Job Title: Avionics Technician

Job Description

The Avionics Technician operates, tests, modifies, troubleshoots, repairs, and inspects all avionics and electrical systems on aircraft. This role ensures all work is completed within allocated man-hour budgets and schedules while maintaining high quality standards and complying with all applicable safety and regulatory requirements. The technician interprets and follows complex wiring diagrams and schematics, performs detailed system checkouts, and uses specialized test equipment to verify proper operation of aircraft electrical and avionics systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, test, modify, troubleshoot, repair, and inspect avionics and electrical systems on various aircraft models.

  • Complete assigned tasks within allocated man-hour budgets and established schedules while maintaining strict quality standards.

  • Perform all work in accordance with applicable safety procedures, regulatory requirements, and technical guidelines.

  • Interpret and follow complex wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to perform installations, repairs, and modifications.

  • Conduct wire-by-wire, power, functional, and operational checkouts of electrical and avionics systems prior to aircraft flight.

  • Set up required electrical and electronic test equipment in compliance with technical data and complete appropriate functional tests.

  • Connect air data test sets to appropriate aircraft fixtures and perform full functional checkouts of pitot/static air data systems.

  • Function test, troubleshoot, and repair basic aircraft electrical systems across all supported models.

  • Function test, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft avionics systems using technical documentation such as blueprints and schematics.

  • Troubleshoot and correct discrepant avionics and electrical systems, documenting findings and repairs as required.

  • Perform soldering applications in various positions and configurations to support installations and repairs.

  • Install, inspect, and repair avionics systems, wire harnesses, and related electrical components.

  • Work with Quadrax connectors and other specialized aircraft connectors as part of system installations and maintenance.

  • Load databases on applicable avionics platforms, including systems such as the Honeywell Epic system.

  • Support SATCOM and other advanced avionics systems through testing, troubleshooting, and repair.

  • Ensure all completed work supports safe and reliable aircraft operation and is ready for flight after testing and verification.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience operating, testing, modifying, troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting aircraft avionics and electrical systems.

  • Proficiency in interpreting and following complex wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.

  • Demonstrated ability to function test, troubleshoot, and repair basic aircraft electrical systems across multiple models.

  • Demonstrated ability to function test, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft avionics systems using technical documentation.

  • Experience performing wire-by-wire, power, functional, and operational checkouts of electrical and avionics systems.

  • Ability to set up and use electrical and electronic test equipment in compliance with technical data.

  • Experience connecting air data test sets and performing full functional checkouts of pitot/static air data systems.

  • Skilled in troubleshooting and correcting discrepant avionics and electrical systems.

  • Ability to perform precise soldering applications in various positions.

Work Environment

The role is based in a climate-controlled hangar environment focused on aircraft maintenance and avionics work. Openings are available across multiple shifts, including first shift (Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.), second shift (Monday–Thursday, 3:30 p.m.–2:00 a.m.), and weekend shift (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.), where employees work 36 hours and are paid for 40. Work schedules may adjust as business dictates to meet operational needs. The environment involves regular use of electrical and electronic test equipment, air data test sets, wire harness tools, and avionics components within an organized hangar setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Little Rock, AR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
