Job summary

Belcan is seeking an Avionics Software Engineer in Phoenix, AZ to design, develop and test safety-critical embedded software for TCAS and other CNS applications, with 5+ years' avionics experience.

The role requires DO-178C knowledge, DOORs experience, and proficiency in C/C++, with full software lifecycle responsibilities. Hybrid work (2–3 days onsite) and relocation assistance are available. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Software Engineering, Electrical, Aerospace, or CS).
• 5+ years of avionics software experience on airborne or spacecraft systems.
• Full life cycle experience on avionics embedded software or similar airborne systems.
• Experience decomposing requirements in DOORs or equivalent tools.
• Knowledge of DO-178C processes and standards.

• Decompose system requirements to software requirements in DOORs per DO-178C.
• Design, code, and test embedded software in C/C++ for TCAS and CNS apps.
• Perform code reviews for standards compliance and optimizations.
• Support integration tests and ensure high coverage (ST/Decision/Modified conditions).

Job description

Avionics Software Engineer positions in Phoenix, AZ 85027 are available at Belcan supporting one of our aerospace customers. We are seeking Software Engineers with at least 5 years of experience and have in-depth experience in designing, developing, and testing safety-critical embedded software for Traffic Collision Avoidance Systems (TCAS) and other Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS) applications.

Job Duties

• Decompose and trace system requirements down to software high-level and low-level requirements within DOORs while ensuring adherence to DO-178C standards.
• Design, code, and implement embedded software utilizing C/C++ for TCAS and other CNS applications.
• Perform code reviews to identify potential defects, non-compliance to software coding standards, and code optimizations/improvements.
• Support software integration tests and ensure that the software has 100% Statement, Decision/Branch, and Modified Condition/Decision coverage.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Minimum of 5+ years of Software Engineering experience on the Avionics for aircraft systems and/or spacecraft systems.
• Full life cycle experience on Avionics Embedded Software or software for other equivalent Airborne Systems.
• Experience analyzing and decomposing requirements in DOORs or equivalent requirements management databases.
• Experience developing low-level embedded software for TCAS, transponders (TDR), Airborne Collision Avoidance System (ACAS), Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B), or other CNS related applications.
• Experience integrating avionics functionality and applications (Displays, FMS, Flight Controls, Datalink, Radios, Surveillance and Navigation functions).
• Working knowledge of DO-178C processes and standards.
• Due to the nature of the work performed, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Business jet avionics experience (communications, navigation and surveillance products / applications)
• Military avionics experience (communications, navigation and surveillance products / applications)
• Experience wiring diagrams for aircraft and modified inputs from different systems to support flight tests.
• Experience developing tools to support more efficient flight test campaigns.

We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering an salary rate of $100,000 to $185,00 however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
