Job summary

Belcan Corporation is seeking an Avionics Software Engineer in Phoenix to design and optimize real-time graphics software for safety-critical avionics displays. You will develop requirements, implement real-time 2D/3D graphics using OpenGL or Vulkan SC, and ensure deterministic performance while meeting DO-178B/C standards.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience with GPUs in safety-critical embedded systems, strong graphics fundamentals, and familiarity with Honeywell Primus Epic

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (CS/SE/CE/EE).
• Minimum 5+ years of software engineering experience on GPUs for safety-critical embedded systems.
• Experience with legacy communications, navigation and surveillance products.
• Strong understanding of computer graphics fundamentals and real-time rendering.
• Experience with Honeywell Primus Epic integrated architectures.
• Experience with OpenGL or Vulkan SC graphics software.
• Working knowledge of DO-178B/C processes and standards.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop software requirements with traceability to system requirements and DO-178B/C standards.
• Design, code, and implement real-time 2D/3D graphics software for embedded avionics display systems (OpenGL/Vulkan SC).
• Optimize graphics algorithms for deterministic performance and to avoid runtime stalls.
• Perform software integration tests, unit tests, and verifications to align with requirements.
• Conduct Structural Coverage Analysis to ensure 100% statement, decision/branch, and MC/DC coverage.

Description: Avionics Software Engineer positions in Phoenix, AZ 85027 are available at Belcan supporting one of our high-profile aerospace clients. We are seeking an Avionics Software Engineer with at least 5 years of experience and have in depth experience in designing, developing, and optimizing real-time graphics software for safety-critical avionics display applications.

Job Details

• RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE
• The role can be supported as direct full-time or contract (W2)
• Hybrid work schedule (2-3 days per week onsite)

Job Duties

• Develop software requirements while ensuring traceability to respective system requirements and adherence to DO-178B/C standards.
• Design, code, and implement real-time 2D/3D graphics software for embedded avionics display systems utilizing OpenGL or Vulkan Safety Critical (SC).
• Optimize 2D/3D graphics algorithms to ensure deterministic performance and avoid runtime stalls.
• Perform software integration tests, unit tests, and other software verification activities to verify alignment between the requirements and software.
• Perform Structural Coverage Analysis on software to ensure 100% Statement, Decision/Branch, and Modified Condition/Decision coverage.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5+ years of Software Engineering experience on Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) for safety-critical embedded systems.
• Prior experience with legacy communications, navigation and surveillance products / applications
• Strong understanding of computer graphics fundamentals and real-time rendering.
• Prior experience with Honeywell Primus Epic integrated architectures
• Experience developing graphics software using Open GL or Vulkan SC.
• Working knowledge of DO-178B/C processes and standards.
• Due to the nature of the work performed, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Display integration experience (touchscreen, HUD, and/or GPU, communication, navigation and surveillance applications)
• Prior experience in FAA Airworthiness Certification
• Full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) experience on Avionics Embedded Software or software for other equivalent Airborne Systems.
• Experience analyzing and decomposing System Level requirements down to Software High-Level Requirements (HLRs), and then down to Software Low-Level Requirements (LLRs).

Compensation

We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $100,000-$185,000. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
