Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled instrumentation engineer to design and implement sensor solutions for rocket engine systems. You will create drawings, specifications, and procedures while collaborating with sensor vendors to meet performance requirements.

You will perform acceptance testing in electronics and environmental labs, oversee vendor test campaigns, and troubleshoot instrumentation issues in avionics environments. A strong background in sensor operation and data analysis is essential.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or Physics with electrical experience; related coursework in instrumentation preferred.
• 2+ years’ experience designing, testing, calibrating of sensors & instrumentation.
• Knowledge of sensor operation for pressure, temperature, displacement, force, acceleration, etc.
• Experience developing acceptance/qualification test plans using pressure controllers and environmental chambers.
• Experience with data anomaly review, sensor system troubleshooting, and root cause analysis in a lab/test environment.
• Excellent presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop instrumentation and sensor solutions for rocket engine systems.
• Create sensor and instrumentation drawings, specifications and procedures.
• Work with sensor vendors to implement sensors meeting performance requirements.
• Perform sensor acceptance tests in electronics and environmental labs.
• Oversee test campaigns at vendors and document results.
• Troubleshoot and debug sensor/instrumentation issues in avionics environments.
• Identify root cause failure modes and document findings.
• Document sensor requirements and specifications for new products.
