Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Quality Inspector – Supply Chain Avionics in Hawthorne, CA. The role focuses on inspecting mechanical parts, assemblies and materials, using standard gauges, and leading continuous improvement initiatives across internal and supplier environments.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in receiving, precision, or metrological inspection and can read engineering drawings per ASME Y14.5. Travel up to 10-20% and overtime may be required; base salary aligns with SpaceX compensation

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 2+ years of receiving, precision, or metrological inspection experience.
• Experience leading a project and/or team.
• Experience detecting design, documentation, and drawing flaws.
• Experience as an avionics inspector for electro-mechanical components and assemblies such as wire harnesses and PCB/PCBAs.
• Experience inspecting composite components and documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications using ASME Y14.5.
• Lean manufacturing principles such as FIFO, 5S, material flow, etc.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel

Responsibilities

• Select and utilize standard gauges to ensure quality
• Inspect feature tolerances by selecting the tool with the required accuracy
• Perform complex inspections on purchased mechanical parts, components, assemblies and materials
• Resolve nonconformance and documentation issues, support Quality Management System policies and procedure documentation, assess compliance to company and industry standards, initiate and lead continual improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
• Support the development of inspection plans at suppliers
• Support supplier corrective action process, including verifying corrective action implementation
• Provide support to both internal and external stakeholders on SpaceX requirements and inspection processes
• Collaborate with teams, lead projects, and drive continuous improvement of processes both internally and at our suppliers
