Job summary

Impulse Space is seeking an Avionics Operations Engineer in Redondo Beach to support and optimize manufacturing processes for avionics hardware. You will own value stream mapping, capacity planning, and factory layouts to streamline material flow and production efficiency.

You will develop data-collection tools, define KPIs, and apply Lean/Six Sigma methods to reduce cycle times and waste while ensuring AS9100 compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in developing and improving manufacturing processes.
• Extensive experience with ERP and MES systems.
• Extensive experience with creating dashboards and data visualization systems to track production processes.
• Experience with Siemens NX.
• 5+ years of demonstrated operations/industrial engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Own value stream mapping, capacity planning, and factory layout to optimize material movement and process flow for electronic and optical hardware.
• Develop data-collection and visualization tools to track production; define KPIs to improve efficiency and quality.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, and related methods to reduce cycle times and waste.
• Ensure cleanroom facilities meet cleanliness and quality standards (AS9100).
• Collaborate with Avionics Design and Avionics Test to transition products to full-scale production.
• Leverage ERP/MRP systems and enterprise teams to implement enhancements.
• Optimize and accelerate manufacturing processes and capabilities.
• Identify bottlenecks with the Avionics Manufacturing team and resolve pain points.
• Support manufacturing capital projects, including new facilities and automation.
