Job summary

StandardAero in Augusta, GA seeks an Avionics Lead to supervise a team performing inspections and troubleshooting across 25+ aircraft models, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.

You will guide technicians, manage workloads, and coordinate with engineering and management to meet project deadlines while maintaining documentation and vendor interfaces.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years avionics inspection and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience managing avionics maintenance projects.
  • Troubleshooting avionics systems across navigation, communication, surveillance, and cabin connectivity.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • HS diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute avionics inspections and troubleshooting to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Lead and supervise Avionics Technicians during heavy maintenance phase inspections.
  • Delegate tasks, set goals, and monitor performance to optimize team efficiency.
  • Collaborate with management, engineering and other departments to resolve system issues and meet deadlines.
  • Ensure FAA compliance and maintain documentation and master drawing packages.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to technicians and assist with complex problems.
  • Oversee inspections, testing and repairs of avionics systems (radio, radar, navigation, entertainment).
  • Manage department workloads, schedules and resources within budget.
  • Communicate work status through meetings, reports, and status updates.
  • Promote a positive work environment and training for continuous improvement.

Avionics Lead, Service

Avionics Lead within the Augusta, GA Business Aviation MRO. Leads a team responsible for inspections and troubleshooting across 25+ models of corporate aircraft, including instrumentation, navigation, sensors, radios, antennas, flight controls, pitot systems, and lighting.

What You’ll Do
  • Plan and execute avionics system inspections and troubleshooting, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Lead and supervise a team of Avionics Technicians performing heavy maintenance phase inspections of avionics systems.
  • Delegate tasks, set short- and long-term goals, and monitor performance to optimize team efficiency.
  • Collaborate with management, engineering, and other departments to resolve system issues and meet project deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and company standards, maintaining documentation and master drawing packages.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to technicians; assist with complex troubleshooting and system integration issues as needed.
  • Oversee inspections, testing, and repairs of avionics systems, including radio, radar, navigation, and entertainment systems.
  • Manage department workloads, schedule operations, and maximize resource utilization within budget.
  • Communicate work status to customers, managers, and team members through meetings, reports, and status updates.
  • Promote a positive work environment, mentoring and training team members for continuous improvement.
Position Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of Avionics inspection and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience managing projects involving avionics maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting and technical expertise of avionics systems across navigation, communication, surveillance, and cabin connectivity.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Characteristics
  • 10+ years of Avionics Service experience.
  • FCC license(s) and FAA A&P license.
  • Experience working on Dassault Falcon, Challenger, Hawker, Embraer, and/or Gulfstream aircraft.
  • Experience servicing avionics systems such as Starlink, GoGo, SmartSky, Collins, and/or Honeywell.
  • Experience managing projects involving avionics heavy maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to lead high-performing teams.
