Job summary

The State of South Carolina, within the Aeronautical Studies Department, seeks an Avionics Instructor to teach avionics and aircraft maintenance, develop curricula, evaluate students, and provide academic advising.

The instructor will use traditional, hybrid, and online delivery methods, align coursework with industry standards, monitor progress, and support workforce readiness and job placement as part of college initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required in aircraft maintenance or related field.
• Associate degree with two years of related work experience acceptable.
• FCC GROL license is required.
• FAA Airframe certification is required.
• NCATT AET certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach avionics and aircraft maintenance courses.
• Develop, review, and revise curriculum, courses, syllabi, and teaching methodologies.
• Evaluate student performance, monitor progress, and provide timely feedback.
• Promote teaching excellence through student success data and evaluations.
• Maintain office hours and support assessment activities.
• Advise and mentor students on academic planning and career pathways; assist with recruitment and job placement as appropriate.
• Participate in departmental initiatives, college committees, and outreach activities.
• Engage in professional development to maintain current knowledge and instructional effectiveness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
