Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related Electro-Mechanical field.
• 3–5 years of avionics engineering experience, or 10+ years in lieu of a degree.
• Experience with cross-functional teams such as Propulsion, Mechanisms, and Thermal.
• Proven experience in avionics system design, flight harness design, analysis, and testing for space or flight vehicles.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for space and aerospace applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Support mission avionics test campaigns from assembly through functional, TVAC, vibe, and thermal testing; document issues and summarize results.
• Collaborate with systems, mechanical, propulsion, and software engineering to define test requirements and specifications.
• Lead or support test plan development, test execution, anomaly analysis, and root‑cause investigations; communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Lead cross-functional reviews to analyze test data, isolate issues, and drive root-cause closure.
• Maintain transparent communication during test campaigns and special projects tied to mission goals.
• Report failures or issues openly and serve as the responsible engineer for externally developed avionics boxes when assigned.
• Support system-level testing and validation to verify avionics functionality under various operating conditions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of design changes, test results, and compliance records.

Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and experienced Avionics Engineer to join our Avionics team as a Test Engineer. This role will usher COTS (Commercial off the Shelf) and custom PCBAs (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies) and boxes through the development and flight testing campaigns. The ideal candidate will have experience in design or testing of electrical and/or electro-mechanical hardware.

Responsibilities

• Support mission avionics test campaigns from assembly through functional, TVAC, vibe, and thermal testing, including documenting issues, summarizing results, and providing feedback for future design and test improvements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, mechanical engineering, propulsion, and software engineering, to define avionics test requirements and specifications.
• Lead or support test plan development, test execution, anomaly analysis, and root‑cause investigations, communicating findings promptly and clearly to stakeholders.
• Lead cross-functional reviews to analyze test data, isolate anomalies, and drive electrical, mechanical, or software issues to root-cause closure.
• Maintain transparent communication throughout test campaigns and special projects, supporting requests tied to mission goals and contributing wherever needed.
• Uphold integrity during testing, openly reporting failures or issues, and serve as the responsible engineer for externally developed avionics boxes when assigned.
• Support system-level testing and validation to verify the functionality and reliability of avionics systems under various operating conditions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of design changes, test results, and compliance records

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related Electro-Mechanical field.
• 3 - 5 years of experience in avionics engineering, preferably in the space or aerospace industry.
• 10+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
• Experience in working with cross functional teams such as Propulsion, Mechanisms, and Thermal.
• Proven experience with avionics system design, flight harness design, analysis, and testing for space or flight vehicles.
