Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking an Avionics/Embedded Software Project Engineer to lead complex flight software and avionics efforts for the AxEMU spacesuit. This role is onsite at the EVA Gemini facility in Houston, reporting to the Manager of Project Engineering.

Candidate must have a strong background directing technical projects, with 5+ years in engineering leadership, and familiarity with NASA/FAA standards for spaceflight hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of leading engineering projects.
• Technical understanding in avionics and flight software for safety-critical apps.
• Spaceflight hardware design background preferred.
• Experience with NASA requirements and spaceflight certification preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office and CAD/PDM tools.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and manage a large or moderately complex scope of work.
• Develop and maintain project requirements for large or moderately complex scope of work.
• Create and maintain a project schedule for large or moderately complex scope of work.
• Identify and manage risk for large or moderately complex scope of work.
• Assign work scope to team members across large or moderately complex scope of work.
• Contribute to resolution of technical issues spanning more than one team's work.
• Maintain and communicate status of the scope to leadership.
• Mentor Level I and II engineers within the program.
• Serve as CAM equivalent for cost, schedule, and EV reporting when applicable.
• Manage procurement requests within the approved budget.
• Review supplier submittals for conformance with scope; coordinate with Sourcing.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure products meet NASA standards, FAA regs, quality safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
