Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking an Avionics/Embedded Software Project Engineer to lead the design and development of avionics and flight software for AxEMU spacesuit. This onsite role reports to the Manager, Project Engineering and demands strong project leadership in a fast-moving spaceflight environment.

The candidate will manage scope, risk, procurement, and cross-functional coordination across teams while ensuring compliance with NASA standards and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Software, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years leading Engineering projects, preferably in avionics or spaceflight.
• Experience with avionics and flight software development in safety-critical applications.
• Spaceflight hardware design background preferred, NASA/ITAR familiarity a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and manage a large or moderately complex scope of work.
• Develop and maintain project requirements for large or moderately complex scope of work.
• Create and maintain a project schedule for large or moderately complex scope of work.
• Identify and manage risk for large or moderately complex scope of work.
• Assign work scope to team members across large or moderately complex scope of work.
• Contribute to resolution of technical issues spanning more than one team member's work.
• Maintain and communicate status of the assigned scope, issues, and schedule to leadership.
• Begin mentoring Level I and Level II engineers within the program.
• Serve as CAM equivalent for assigned scope, owning cost, schedule, and earned-value reporting.
