Job summary

Exploration Technology Group in San Francisco seeks a hands-on Electrical Design Engineer to lead high-speed embedded electronics for avionics. You will own boards and harnesses from concept through schematic, layout, build, bring-up, qualification, and flight integration.

The role emphasizes generalist skills across bench testing, design, and integration, with a focus on radiation-tolerant electronics for extreme environments and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 3+ years in avionics or embedded hardware design.
• Experience with high-speed digital interfaces and timing closure.
• Proficient with Altium or KiCad for multi-layer PCB layouts.
• Experience with radiation-tolerant design (SEE/SEU/TID).
• Ability to take flight hardware from concept to qualification.

Responsibilities

• Own schematic design and PCB layout for embedded avionics boards with timing closure.
• Design robust power architectures with sequencing, protection, and fault recovery.
• Design wire harnesses and harness drawings; produce build documentation.
• Drive board bring-up and qualification campaigns; perform bench tests.
• Collaborate with software, mechanical, thermal, and manufacturing teams.
• Provide hands-on support for assembly and integration in SF and at customer facilities.
