Job summary

Township High School District 214 Community Education Foundation is seeking an AVID Assistant (WHS) to support student academic achievement in a grant-funded, 10-month assignment. The position offers a Grade 3, Step 1, $25.52 hourly salary and runs August 24, 2026, with contract renewal possible based on grant funding.

The role requires a high school diploma, strong computer skills, ability to lift up to 40 lbs, and the capacity to work in a team with licensed teachers to tutor and supervise

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have physical ability to lift/move supplies, materials and office equipment up to 40 lbs.
• Must sit at workstation for extended period of time and/or move frequently from workstation to various other areas of building.
• Must organize and prioritize workflow.
• Must be proficient in the use of computers, office practices, procedures and office equipment.
• Must project a positive image of the district to students, staff and parents as well as exhibit a positive employee attitude.
• Must demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills, and communicate clearly and respectfully with students, staff, parents, visitors and the general public.
• Must have awareness of a variety of student needs including physical and social emotional needs.
• Experience or training which provides knowledge of the subject matter (study skills, college prep).

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized or small-group tutoring under licensed teachers.
• Monitor student work.
• Keep records of student attendance and participation.
• Attend AVID Tutorology training before duties.
• Help organize field trips and perform administrative duties.
• Participate in professional development activities to enhance job performance.
• Cultivate inclusive, equitable working relationships with staff, students, and community members.
