As an AVID tutor, you guide students toward academic and personal excellence, participate in ongoing progress discussions with teachers, and contribute to study skills

Qualifications

• Enrolled at a college or university.
• Balanced academic background across liberal arts, sciences, or mathematics.
• Willing to meet regularly with teachers to discuss progress.
• Able to work collaboratively with secondary students.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tutorial sessions emphasizing collaborative learning and peer teaching.
• Assess concepts from worksheets and discussions to plan sessions.
• Assist with writing processes: brainstorming, clustering, revision, editing.
• Guide students toward independent learning strategies.
• Reinforce long-term learning beyond studying.
• Support in teaching study skills and college preparation.
• Maintain a positive classroom tone.
