Salem-Keizer Public Schools is seeking an AVID Tutor to support students through small-group and one-on-one tutorials. Tutors use Socratic questioning and collaborative learning to help students progress toward college and career readiness, working in person and coordinating with AVID staff.

Ideal volunteers or students with strong academics will provide constructive feedback, assist with course materials, and help maintain a positive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• AVID tutors should be excellent role models of motivated, organized, successful college students who believe that the AVID students will succeed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person tutorial sessions that underscore collaborative learning and student-led discussion of class notes.
• Determine concepts to focus on from tutorial worksheets and discussions.
• Support AVID scholars through care and connection and communicate progress with the coordinator.
