Job summary

Tucson Unified School District is seeking an AVID Tutor for Tucson High Magnet School to support students in achieving academic goals through AVID methodologies, either one-on-one or in study groups.

You will help prepare instructional materials, participate in preparation for class sessions, and perform other duties as assigned while maintaining strong English communication, meeting district expectations and safety checks.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Currently enrolled college student with 30+ credits and a 2.5 GPA, or a college graduate with at least 2.5 GPA.
• Strong verbal and written English skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Copy of test results required prior to employment.
• FBI background check and immunization proof before start date.

Job description

SUMMARY

Under supervision, the AVID Tutor will assist students in achieving academic goals utilizing AVID methodologies through individual tutoring and/or training in study groups, assist in the preparation of instructional materials, and perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Currently Enrolled College Student, with a minimum of 30 Credit hours AND Minimum 2.5 GPA OR
• College Graduate with minimum 2.5 GPA OR
• Prior or current College Enrollment with less than thirty hours, with a minimum 2.5 GPA AND Completion of AZ Dept. of Education-approved Academic Assessment Test
• Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.

Copy of test results must be submitted prior to employment.

REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO START DATE

• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
• FBI fingerprint background check

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Prior tutoring experience

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
