Job summary

Tucson Unified School District is seeking an AVID Tutor to help students achieve academic goals using AVID methodologies through individual tutoring and/or training in study groups. The tutor will also assist in preparing instructional materials and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements include being at least 18, currently enrolled with a minimum of 30 credit hours and a 2.5 GPA or a college graduate with a 2.5 GPA.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Enrolled student with ≥30 credits and GPA ≥ 2.5 or college graduate with GPA ≥ 2.5.
• Or enrollment with <30 credits and GPA ≥ 2.5 plus AZ ed-approved assessment test.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students using AVID methodologies in one-on-one or small groups.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Currently Enrolled College Student, with a minimum of 30 Credit hours AND Minimum 2.5 GPA OR
• College Graduate with minimum 2.5 GPA OR
• Prior or current College Enrollment with less than thirty hours, with a minimum 2.5 GPA AND Completion of AZ Dept. of Education-approved Academic Assessment Test
• Verbal & written communication skills in English and a demonstrated ability to read and comprehend written/graphic and oral instructions.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Currently Enrolled College Student, with a minimum of 30 Credit hours AND Minimum 2.5 GPA OR
• College Graduate with minimum 2.5 GPA OR

Copy of test results must be submitted prior to employment.

Requirements Prior To Start Date

• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization
• FBI fingerprint background check

• Prior tutoring experience

• Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
