Job summary

American International Group (AIG) in Los Angeles is offering a Summer Intern position in Underwriting - Aviation. You will gain hands-on experience in evaluating aviation risks, collaborating with senior underwriters, and supporting client relationships during a 9-week in-office program from June to August 2027.

Applicants should be pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree, available for full program duration, and comfortable working in person four days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree to be received no later than June 2028 (unofficial transcript required upon application).
• Program runs June 7–August 6, 2027; in-person four days per week.
• Strong written and verbal communication; analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills; ability to multitask in a fast-paced, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the evaluation and underwriting of aviation risks across operators, airports, manufacturers, and airlines.
• Review underwriting submissions, exposure info, loss history, and other data to support risk selection and pricing.
• Partner with underwriters, claims professionals, attorneys, and risk specialists to develop tailored insurance solutions.
• Build relationships with brokers and clients while supporting new business and renewals.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging aviation risks to support informed underwriting decisions.
• Develop technical knowledge of aviation insurance while building analytical, decision-making, and relationship-management skills.
