Job summary

Kwame Building Group, Inc. (KBG) seeks a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and engineering of a major airport terminal project in Missouri.

You will coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and airport stakeholders to ensure high-quality mechanical systems meet codes and project requirements. The role targets a mid-level engineer with 5+ years of experience in large-scale building projects, preferred aviation experience, and strong HVAC/building systems knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional mechanical engineering experience on large projects.
  • Experience with airport terminals or aviation facilities is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and building mechanical systems.
  • Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs.
  • Ability to interpret construction documents and coordinate with multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and engineering of mechanical systems for airport terminal facilities, including HVAC, ventilation, plumbing, hydronic, and controls.
  • Review drawings, specs, calculations, equipment schedules for accuracy and constructability.
  • Coordinate mechanical designs with architecture, structures, electrical, and other teams.
  • Participate in design coordination meetings and provide technical recommendations.
  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and proposed design changes.
  • Perform site visits and field observations to verify installations align with plans.
  • Assist with equipment selection, load analysis, and energy-efficiency evaluations.
  • Support testing, balancing, commissioning, and turnover of systems.
  • Maintain project documentation and assist with reports and correspondence.
  • Ensure compliance with building, mechanical, energy, and safety codes.
