Job summary

Strategic Support Solutions is seeking a skilled Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our team in Smyrna, GA. You will support a premier client in the aerospace and defense industry, performing structural repairs, modifications, and corrosion control on various aircraft.

Strong interpretation of engineering drawings and strict adherence to aviation safety standards are essential. Qualified candidates will have hands-on experience with thin-skinned airframes, be proficient with aviation sheet

Qualifications

At least three (3) years of direct experience performing sheet metal fabrication and structural repair on thin-skin general aviation airframes.
Proficiency with aviation sheet metal tools and machinery (e.g., rivet guns, bucking bars, pneumatic drills, countersinks, shears, brakes, and precision measuring devices).
Strong rivet techniques knowledge (solid rivets, CherryMAX, Hi-Loks).
Ability to read blueprints, SRMs, and manufacturer specifications; meet safety and quality standards.
Excellent communication and safety-focused mindset

Responsibilities

Perform corrosion mitigation, structural repairs, and modifications on aircraft skin panels, ribs, stringers, and structural components.
Inspect, evaluate, and document structural damage to sheet metal systems per SRM and technical data.
Work with thin-gauge aluminum and composite surfaces: cutting, bending, forming, dimpling, flushing sheet metal parts.
Remove, fabricate, fit, and reinstall aircraft panels, skins, cowlings, and fairings.
Mechanically strip finishes and prepare surfaces using approved methods and chemical/mechanical treatments.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering orders, technical schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
