Job summary

The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority seeks experienced law enforcement officers with at least two years patrol experience and a current P.O.S.T. certificate to join Airport Police for aviation security and safety.

The Lateral Police Officer position emphasizes public safety, professional conduct, and teamwork, with multiple shifts and a $2,500 recruitment bonus paid in installments. Applicants must meet Nevada NAC standards.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years sworn law enforcement patrol experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• A valid driver’s license is required at the time of application.
• Current P.O.S.T. Category I Basic Certification. If P.O.S.T. certification is from another state, obtain Nevada P.O.S.T. within 24 months of hire.
• Meet NAC 289.110 minimum standards for appointment as a Peace Officer in Nevada.

Responsibilities

• Patrol designated areas of the airport to preserve law, order, and public safety.
• Respond to service calls and complaints including civil, property, crashes, and related incidents.
• Enforce traffic laws and issue warnings/citations.
• Coordinate with other law enforcement agencies for investigations and multi-jurisdictional cases.
• Prepare thorough reports on arrests and activities.
• Secure crime scenes, conduct investigations, and gather evidence.
