Job summary

The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) is seeking an experienced Lateral Police Officer with at least two years of patrol experience and a current P.O.S.T. certificate to join the Airport Police force to enhance aviation security and safety.

This position requires acting with minimal supervision, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with other agencies in a fast‑paced airport environment. A $2,500 recruitment bonus is paid in three installments.

Qualifications

• Two years of sworn law enforcement patrol experience.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license at the time of application.
• Current P.O.S.T. Category I Basic Certification; if from another state, obtain Nevada P.O.S.T. within 24 months of hire.
• Meet NAC 289.110 minimum standards for Peace Officers in Nevada.

Responsibilities

• Patrol airport areas to preserve law, order and safety and ensure security program compliance.
• Respond to service calls, complaints, crashes, and incidents.
• Enforce traffic laws and issue warnings/citations.
• Coordinate with other agencies on investigations and multi‑jurisdictional tasks.
• Prepare thorough reports on arrests and incidents.
• Secure crime scenes, gather evidence, and make arrests if needed.
• Provide crowd control and dignitary protection as required.
• Attend training on police methods, firearms, and related topics.
