Job summary

Cape Air seeks a Director of Safety to lead day-to-day safety program coordination and ongoing improvement across the company. You will oversee reporting, training, investigations, corrective-action follow-up, and emergency preparedness, while promoting a proactive safety culture and escalation of risks to the Vice President of Safety.

You will supervise Safety Department staff, maintain reporting dashboards, and coordinate safety initiatives with leaders across departments.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three to five years of airline safety or operational experience.
  • Experience supporting or leading safety programs, investigations, audits, or risk management activities.
  • Ability to work with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to travel and respond to operational needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management, execution, and continuous improvement of safety programs (ASAP, IEP, FRMP, FOQA, training, promotion).
  • Supervises Safety Department personnel and manages workload and performance with VP of Safety guidance.
  • Maintains safety reporting systems and dashboards for leadership review.
  • Escalates significant safety risks and resources constraints to VP of Safety.
  • Tracks corrective action implementation and evaluates mitigations for effectiveness.
  • Supports internal safety investigations and documents findings and corrective actions.
  • Ensures safety materials are developed, maintained, and evaluated for effectiveness.
  • Chairs monthly Safety Committee meetings and reviews performance and trends.
