Aviation Safety Inspector, Air Carrier Operations, Principal Operations Inspector

Summary

The Principal Inspector Operations, Part 125 functions as the primary operations interface between assigned air carriers, operators, agencies, organizations, airmen, designees, and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure organizations meet Federal Aviation Regulations regarding operations programs.
  • Develop work programs for surveillance and inspection within manpower and budget limits.
  • Perform geographic surveillance and certification functions.
  • Maintain proper organization, staffing, training, and facilities compliance.
  • Chair joint FAA-industry meetings and coordinate with top management.
  • Conduct enforcement investigations, prepare reports, and recommend actions.
  • Manage emergency suspensions and recertifications.
  • Investigate complaints, incidents, and accidents; provide legal and court support.
  • Coordinate MEL approvals and enforce compliance.
  • Review and approve manuals and training programs.
  • Evaluate operations and facilities through inspections and reports.
  • Negotiate policy changes and prescribe corrective actions.
  • Evaluate proposed route or airport changes and conduct proving flights.
Minimum Requirements

Conditions of Employment: US Citizenship, Selective Service registration, SF50 submission, telework eligibility.

Qualifications: Medical fitness, at least 1 year of specialized experience, pilot experience in multi-engine aircraft, airline transport or commercial pilot certificate, recent flight hours, and limited recent accidents.
