Our client is an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of aircraft windows, aerostructure assemblies, as well as composite parts in our modern manufacturing facility. They are ISO 9001:2015 / AS9100D certified for the design, manufacturing, assembly, repair, installation, and distribution of aerospace window/windshield composite details and assemblies, sheet metal wing spars, and fuselage assemblies for the aerospace market. Additionally, our client is NADCAP accredited for composites, aerostructure assembly, and NADCAP Measurement/Inspection.

They are currently recruiting for an Aviation Maintenance Technician in Mesa, AZ, Orlando, FL, Battle Creek, MI, Provo, UT, and Greensboro, NC.

A Day In The Life of an Aircraft Technician / A&P Mechanic:

As the Aircraft Technician / A&P Mechanic, your primary responsibility is to provide aircraft window services to our existing customers and increase customer base and sales in the assigned Regional Market. You will also inspect aircraft windows and evaluate defects for airworthiness, repair scratches, pits, and other damage to aircraft windows, and remove and install replacement windshields and windows.

Essential Duties of The Aircraft Technician / A&P Mechanic:

  1. Remove existing windows.
  2. Prep and install new windows.
  3. On-call 24/7 at customer requests for emergency AOG services.
  4. Use an orbital sander with different grits of sandpaper to repair the damaged area.
  5. Review, interpret, and understand the tech data as it relates to the function of the job.
  6. Responsible for acquiring the purchase order from the customers as per the quote. Schedule with the owner/operator and/or maintenance manager when our services will be performed. Complete and provide billing information and evaluation forms to our home office in Wichita, KS; after the work is performed, provide the appropriate airworthiness documents to the customer.
  7. Travel as required to customers’ locations via ground transportation, air, or airlines.
  8. Perform weekly expense reports detailing the costs of gasoline, entertainment, customer relations, etc.
  9. Sign off on all work orders and maintain traceability of parts to the appropriate work order.
  10. Daily customer visits and/or phone contact with customers and potential customers.
  11. Develop and grow the sales area for the assigned Regional Market.
  12. Seek guidance and direction as necessary for performance duties.
  13. Keep the supervisor/manager informed about the work's status.
  14. Inform the supervisor/manager about problems and potential problems as early as possible.
  15. Maintain the work area in a neat and orderly manner.
  16. Maintain a well-groomed appearance appropriate for the position and situation.
  17. Respect the confidentiality of the Company, customer, and personnel information.
  18. Perform other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
  19. Assist and train other employees as needed.

Education:

  1. High School Diploma/General Education Degree (GED)

Experience:

  1. Sales preferred
  2. 1 year of orbital sanding experience preferred
  3. Auto body experience preferred
  4. Previous aircraft experience preferred
  5. A&P license or AMT certificate preferred
  6. Sales experience preferred

Technical Skills:

  1. Ability to use various measuring devices
  2. Strong mechanical aptitude
  3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints preferred
  4. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals

Problem Solving/Decision Making:
Ability to read and understand mechanical and technical manuals and apply them to practical situations in the field. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers. Provide timely and incredible customer service.

Essential Job Functions/Physical Demands of The Aircraft Technician / A&P Mechanic:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. The work is done while standing on the wings, in and out of the cockpit, in and outside the plane. Traveling is required, and hours worked range from 2 to 12 a day based on demand.

  1. Ability to stand and/or sit 8 hours a day
  2. Ability to lift/carry up to 70 lbs
  3. Ability to twist, bend and stoop 8 hours a day
  4. Ability to pinch and grip various tools with fingers and hands using pushing and pulling motion 8 hours a day
  5. Ability to reach 8 hours a day
  6. Ability to communicate clearly at all times
  7. Ability to understand and follow work orders and process specs
  8. Ability to hold buffing and polishing tools 8 hours a day
  9. Ability to climb up and down ladders
