Job summary

USAU and CAIM in Toledo, OH, seeks an Aviation Insurance - Underwriting Assistant to support underwriting staff with clerical and data-entry duties, including processing premiums, broker codes, and certificates of insurance.

Ideal candidates have an Associates Degree (or equivalent), 3–5 years of admin experience in insurance/aviation, and strong MS Word/Excel skills with a customer-service mindset. This is an on-site role based in the Toledo office.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree desired.
  • Three to five years administrative assistant experience desired; insurance/aviation industry experience preferred.
  • Solid proofreading skills required.
  • Accurate data entry skills; strong MS Word and Excel; PowerPoint and Access desired.
  • Basic math skills; focus on high-quality customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure information about applications, premiums, broker codes, and reinsurers is correctly coded.
  • Prorate premiums with coverage changes.
  • Input premium data to generate invoices.
  • Communicate with agents/brokers for routine coverage requests.
  • Data entry of policy formats to generate certificates, endorsements, policies.
  • Handle clerical duties including typing, phones, scanning, filing.
  • Obtain underwriter approval for documents.
  • Interface with branch and Home Office on coverage issues.
  • Perform other clerical and administrative duties as assigned.

Position Description

We currently offer an excellent opportunity for anAviation Insurance - Underwriting Assistant in ourToledo Branch Office. The successful candidate willprovide general clericalsupport and basic technical insurance support to the underwriting staff byperforming duties and responsibilities which include but are not limited to thefollowing:

Position Responsibilities
  • Ensure that information pertaining to application, premiums, broker codes, reinsurers, etc. is correctly coded on the system
  • Prorate premiums in accordance with coverage changes
  • Input premium data on computer to generate invoices
  • Communicate with agents and brokers to receive and process routine coverage requests
  • Perform data entry of computerized policy formats to generate certificates of insurance, endorsements, policies and other insurance documents
  • Handle clerical duties including typing, data entry, answering telephones, scanning, photocopying, faxing and filing
  • Obtain underwriter approval for insurance documents created and issued
  • Interface with branch and Home Office personnel regarding coverage issues
  • Perform other miscellaneous clerical and administrative duties as assigned
Role Qualifications and Experience
  • Associates Degree desired
  • Three to five years administrative assistant experience desired; insurance/aviation industry experience preferred
  • Solid proofreading skills required
  • Accurate data entry skills necessary - Strong MS Word and Excel skills required - PowerPoint and Access desired
  • Basic math skills required
  • Focus on providing high quality customer service required
  • Self-motivated and detail orientation necessary
  • Ability to work well under time constraints and meet deadlines needed
  • Good organization skills and ability to prioritize necessary
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills needed
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and assist others as necessary
  • Ability to work from the Company’s physical office location needed
  • Punctuality and reliability necessary
Salary Range

45,000.00 - 85,000.00USD

Theannual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around theU.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials,education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance,skills and/or training.
