Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking an Emerging Aviation Technology Coordinator to lead our UAS program and contribute to AAM and space initiatives. You will work with federal, state, and local agencies to advance aviation innovations across the agency and partner networks.

The role requires building and managing aviation programs, coordinating pilots and training, and ensuring compliance with evolving policies and regulations. Onsite in Austin with travel and a 40 hr work week.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience developing, operating, or managing UAS programs for enterprise applications.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot license is required.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a state vehicle.
  • Experience with Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and Space initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees UAS operations with districts, divisions, and contractors in coordination with FAA.
  • Leads research into agency uses of UAS including testing and development.
  • Coordinates procurement and maintenance of UAS assets and pilots teams.
