Job summary

City of Charlotte is seeking an Aviation Heavy Equipment Service Technician Apprentice to work under supervision at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The role includes hands-on maintenance of tractors, fire apparatus, heavy equipment, and Electric Vehicles, with the added path to an Associate of Applied Science through CPCC.

You will study Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology at CPCC while performing on-the-job tasks with a mentor.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Must enroll at CPCC for Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology.
• Valid driver’s license with no more than 6 points and ability to qualify for city drive permit.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose defects in automotive equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on airport equipment (autos, trucks, graders, mowers, tractors, buses, fire trucks).
• Service and repair electrical systems on Electric Vehicles.
• Prepare and maintain work records and routine reports.
• Follow oral and written instructions.
