Job summary

Vertical Mag in Boston, MA is seeking a Ground Support Equipment Mechanic to maintain de-icing trucks, service vehicles, and related ground support gear. You will diagnose diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safe, reliable operation in an airport support environment.

Applicants should have at least 5 years of hands-on heavy equipment experience, the ability to read schematics, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience repairing heavy-duty diesel trucks or GSE.
• Strong diesel mechanic skills with engines and heavy equipment.
• Ability to diagnose electrical, electronic, and hydraulic systems.
• Hands-on hydraulics knowledge, including pump/motor repair.
• Read electrical schematics and blueprints for diagnostic work.
• GSE experience with de-icing trucks and airport support machinery.
• Journeyman-level training in Heavy Equipment Technical, Automotive, or Agricultural disciplines.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to obtain and maintain RAIC.
• Strong teamwork with minimal supervision and adherence to procedures.
• Commitment to high health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, adjust, overhaul, and repair gas and diesel-powered trucks and power equipment used in ground support operations.
• Repair de-icing trucks and service vehicles to ensure safety and operability.
• Perform preventative maintenance and estimate repair costs.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems and repair pumps, motors, and related parts.
• Overhaul and replace bearings, transmissions, axles, and suspensions.
• Use diagnostics and schematics to identify faults and plan repairs.
• Maintain accurate work records and inspections.
• Complete all required documentation and reports in a timely manner.
• Support reliable operation of all ground support equipment.
• Follow procedures with health and safety as a priority.
• Collaborate effectively as a team to maintain a safety-focused environment.
