Aviation Ground Support Equipment Technician
ManTech seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Part Time On Call Aviation Ground Support Equipment Technician to join our vehicle sustainment team. This is a remote position.
The selected candidate will provide maintenance and logistics support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Inspecting, repairing, rebuilding, or overhauling major assemblies of internal combustion engines, hydraulic cylinders, fuel pumps, fuel/hydraulic lines, voltage regulators, and generators used in aviation ground support equipment.
- Replacing worn or broken parts such as motors, bearings, or other engine parts; adjusting valves; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems.
- Providing maintenance support including operations of powered and non-powered units, system troubleshooting, engineering, analysis, and repair of commercial and military aviation ground support systems and subsystems to the component level.
- Performing preventive maintenance on electrical power support systems by verifying proper fuel, lubricants, and coolant levels. Applying industry or military standard troubleshooting procedures to localize and isolate faulty system components.
- Maintaining and preparing records and documentation for accurate and timely data processing.
- Traveling 100% to worksites in various locations, including the United States, Europe, and the Pacific Region.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Six (6) years of qualified automotive maintenance experience.
- Qualified mechanical experience includes one or more of the following: light or heavy-duty trucks, ground power units, aircraft tugs, air conditioning and heater units, cargo loaders, de-icing vehicles, runway sweepers, light carts, fuel and defuel equipment.
- Experience with maintenance support including operations, system troubleshooting, engineering, design, installation, analysis, maintenance, and repair of U.S. systems and subsystems to the component level.
- Experience with a variety of hand tools, diagnostic tools, power tools, multi-meters; applying industry and/or military standard troubleshooting procedures to isolate faulty system components.
- Willingness to travel to mission locations within the United States, Europe, and the Pacific region on an as-needed basis and work 40+ hours on missions of varying lengths.
- Must possess a Valid Driver’s License for the location of work, successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening, and have a High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with commercial and military aviation ground support equipment.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting this position.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch, and kneel.
- Ability to push, pull, reach, work in high noise areas, lift 50 lbs, and handle small parts.
- Ability to work with computers, CRTs, and type on a keyboard.
