Job summary

United Airlines is seeking a Manager – Deferral Management to lead the Deferral Management planner group. You will oversee MEL item prioritization, diagnose complex aircraft issues, and guide a team through data-driven corrective actions across shifts.

You’ll mentor specialists, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure compliance with IBT contract rules. Strong aviation maintenance background and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant work experience.
• Aviation maintenance experience is required.
• A&P license is required.
• 4+ years in Line Maintenance, Line Planning, or Maintenance Control.
• Experience mining and analyzing data.
• 2+ years of leadership experience managing maintenance personnel.

Responsibilities

• Lead a Deferral Management team on a shift basis.
• Prioritize administration of deferred open items and MELs with high impact.
• Monitor data and guide the team to meet metrics and goals.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and manage team resources and schedules.
• Train, mentor, and ensure quality of work by Deferral Management Specialists.
• Maintain procedures and manuals; adjust priorities based on feedback.
