Job summary

Ahold Delhaize USA is seeking a Captain for its ADUSA Aviation Department to ensure safe and efficient air transportation for executives and passengers. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or comparable FAR Part 91 flight operations experience.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate.
  • Valid FAA Class I or II Medical Certificate.
  • 4+ years of domestic experience as PIC in either a corporate or commercial aviation setting.
  • 4,000 hours total flight time and minimum 2,000 hours multi-engine turbo-jet.
  • 3+ years of experience on Cessna Citation XLS+ (or similar) operated by RBS Aviation.
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Broad knowledge of all functions related to aircraft operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of advanced aircraft systems and avionics.
  • Thorough familiarity with FAA FAR Part 91 and ICAO Annexes (filed Differences).
  • Knowledge of aircraft scheduling, including mobile technology applications.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, iPad, and related software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring Safety: The captain ensures safe flights through pre-flight checks and risk mitigation.
  • Flight Planning: Plans routes, calculates fuel, reviews weight and balance, and communicates fuel needs by 4:00 p.m. the day before.
  • Managing Crew: Leads and manages flight crew as PIC, ensuring training and qualifications.
  • Aircraft Maintenance: Ensures maintenance compliance during pre-flight inspections and collaborates with maintenance staff.
  • Communication: Interacts with executives, aviation personnel, and vendors using specialized protocols.
  • Decision-Making: Makes critical in-flight decisions to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Cost Management: Oversees flight costs while prioritizing safety and efficiency.
  • Customer Service: Provides excellent service to passengers and ensures aircraft readiness.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Primary Purpose

The Captain's main role, in the ADUSA Aviation Department, is to ensure safe and efficient air transportation for executives and passengers. They oversee flight operations encompassing planning, maintenance status, crew management, and regulatory compliance, holding ultimate responsibility for flight, passenger, and crew safety. Captains must ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and foreign regulations, as well as the policies and procedures specified in the company operations manual. Captains are the company's most visible representative to the passengers, must act with tact and decorum while ensuring an efficient and safe operation. This position requires expertise, experience, and quick decision‑making. Strong management and communication skills are vital for coordinating with various stakeholders.

Flexible / Hybrid Work Schedule

Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in‑person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC.

Eligibility

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensuring Safety: As the ultimate authority, the captain ensures safe flights through pre‑flight checks, in‑flight decisions, and vigilant risk mitigation.
  • Flight Planning: Plans routes, calculates fuel needs, and considers factors like weather and airspace restrictions using software and experience to optimize flight efficiency and safety. Reviews and calculates the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board and performance charts. Communicates the fuel needed for each flight by 4:00 p.m. the day before the flight to the appropriate maintenance personnel. Makes decisions necessary to start, delay, or cancel flights and deviate the flight from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate.
  • Managing Crew: Leads and manages assigned flight crew when functioning as Pilot in Command, ensuring all crew are properly trained and qualified, using task delegation to promote teamwork and clear guidance.
  • Aircraft Maintenance: During pre‑flight inspections, is responsible for ensuring the aircraft maintenance is compliant with regulations and standards, collaborates with maintenance personnel and possesses system knowledge to ensure aircraft safety and reliability.
  • Communication: Communicates with various stakeholders, including executives, aviation personnel and outside vendors using specialized equipment and protocols, maintaining effective communication for safety and efficiency, and fostering good relationships.
  • Decision‑Making: Makes critical in‑flight decisions using experience, training, and situational awareness to ensure flight safety and efficiency.
  • Cost Management: Manages assigned flight's cost‑effectively while prioritizing safety and efficiency, utilizing various tools and resources to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Customer Service: Provides excellent service to passengers, ensuring the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions on board, complies with schedules, and supports and assists passenger needs to streamline executive travel.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the business and support our values.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or comparable FAR Part 91 flight operations experience.

  • 4+ years of domestic experience as PIC in either a corporate or commercial aviation setting, or as determined otherwise appropriate by the ADUSA Aviation Chief Pilot.
  • Extensive flight experience, including 4,000 hours total flight time and a minimum of 2,000 hours multi‑engine turbo‑jet.
  • Three‑plus years of experience on Cessna Citation XLS+ (or similar) operated by RBS Aviation, or as determined otherwise appropriate by the ADUSA Aviation Chief Pilot.
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Broad knowledge of all functions related to aircraft operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of advanced aircraft systems and avionics.

Salary Range

ME/NC/PA/SC: $108,880 – $163,320.

Actual compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on their unique qualifications and experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Final compensation decisions will be made in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
