Job summary

Ahold Delhaize USA is seeking a Captain to oversee safe and efficient air transportation for executives and passengers in the ADUSA Aviation Department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable FAR Part 91 flight operations experience.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate required.
  • Valid FAA Class I or II Medical Certificate.
  • 4+ years PIC experience in corporate or commercial aviation, or as deemed appropriate by ADUSA Aviation Chief Pilot.
  • 4,000+ hours total flight time with 2,000+ hours multi-engine turbojet.
  • 3+ years on Cessna Citation XLS+ (or similar) operated by RBS Aviation.
  • Broad knowledge of aircraft operations and FAA FAR Part 91 and ICAO Annexes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe flights as the ultimate authority through pre-flight checks and risk mitigation.
  • Plan routes, calculate fuel, review weight and balance, and communicate fuel needs.
  • Lead and manage flight crew as PIC, ensuring training and qualifications.
  • Ensure aircraft maintenance compliance and coordinate with maintenance staff.
  • Communicate with executives, aviation personnel, and vendors using appropriate protocols.
  • Make critical in-flight decisions in dynamic conditions.
  • Control flight costs while maintaining safety and efficiency.
  • Provide excellent passenger service and ensure aircraft readiness.

Primary Purpose

The Captain’s main role, in the ADUSA Aviation Department, is to ensure safe and efficient air transportation for executives and passengers. The Captain oversees flight operations encompassing planning, maintenance status, crew management, and regulatory compliance, holding ultimate responsibility for flight, passenger, and crew safety. Captains must ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and foreign regulations, as well as the policies and procedures specified in the company operations manual. Captains are the company’s most visible representative to the passengers and must act with tact and decorum while ensuring an efficient and safe operation. This position requires expertise, experience, and quick decision‑making. Strong management and communication skills are vital for coordinating with various stakeholders. By providing secure travel and upholding regulations, the Captain contributes to the organization’s reputation and operational success.

Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in‑person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Salisbury, NC.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring Safety: As the ultimate authority, the Captain ensures safe flights through pre‑flight checks, in‑flight decisions, and vigilant risk mitigation. They stay updated with regulations, technologies, and best practices to protect passengers, crew, and the organization’s reputation.
  • Flight Planning: Plan routes, calculate fuel needs, and consider factors like weather and airspace restrictions using software and experience to optimize flight efficiency and safety. Review and calculate the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board and performance charts. Communicate the fuel needed for each flight by 4:00 p.m. the day before the flight to the appropriate maintenance personnel. Make decisions necessary to start, delay, or cancel flights and deviate the flight from the planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate.
  • Managing Crew: When functioning as Pilot in Command, lead and manage assigned flight crew, ensuring all crew are properly trained and qualified, using task delegation, promoting teamwork and clear guidance.
  • Aircraft Maintenance: During pre‑flight inspections, be responsible for ensuring the aircraft maintenance is compliant with regulations and standards, collaborate with maintenance personnel, and possess system knowledge to ensure aircraft safety and reliability.
  • Communication: Captains communicate with various stakeholders, including executives, aviation personnel and outside vendors using specialized equipment and protocols, maintaining effective communication for safety and efficiency, and fostering good relationships.
  • Decision‑Making: In rapidly changing situations, Captains make critical in‑flight decisions using experience, training, and situational awareness to ensure flight safety and efficiency.
  • Cost Management: Captains manage assigned flight’s cost‑effectively while prioritizing safety and efficiency, utilizing various tools and resources to help identify cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Customer Service: Provides excellent service to passengers, ensuring the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions on board, complies with schedules, and supports and assists passenger needs to streamline executive travel.
  • Additional job duties may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the business and support our values.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable FAR Part 91 flight operations experience
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate
  • Valid FAA Class I or II Medical Certificate
  • 4+ years of domestic experience as PIC in either a corporate or commercial aviation setting, or as determined otherwise appropriate by the ADUSA Aviation Chief Pilot.
  • Extensive flight experience, including four thousand (4,000) hours total flight time and a minimum of two thousand (2,000) hours multi‑engine turbo jet.
  • Three‑plus (3+) years of experience on Cessna Citation XLS+ (or similar) operated by RBS Aviation, or as determined otherwise appropriate by the ADUSA Aviation Chief Pilot.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Broad knowledge of all functions related to aircraft operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of advanced aircraft systems and avionics.
  • Thorough familiarity with FAA FAR Part 91 and ICAO Annexes (filed differences).
  • Knowledge of aircraft scheduling, including mobile technology applications.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, iPad, and related software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge, understanding and appreciation for Safety Management System processes, including risk analysis and mitigation, human factors and accident/incident prevention.

Salary Range: $108,880 - $163,320

Actual compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on their unique qualifications and experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Final compensation decisions will be made in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
