Job summary

BEUMER Group in Grand Rapids, MI, is seeking a Technician I to maintain the baggage handling system at GRR. The role covers electrical and mechanical maintenance under supervision, interfacing with SAC/PLC systems and OEM partners.

Qualifications

• Electrical or mechanical degree or equivalent experience.
• 0–2 years' hands-on experience with automated material handling systems.
• Eligible for airside security clearance.
• Strong understanding of mechatronic systems with sensors, actuators, motors, and controls.
• Knowledge of BEUMER SAC systems, PLC programming (Siemens preferred), and fault diagnostics.
• Familiar with Profinet, CANbus and other Fieldbus protocols.
• Able to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
• Skilled with diagnostic tools and multimeters for system analysis.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced maintenance on BEUMER ICS components.
• Diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical, and control subsystems.
• Respond to system interruptions, reset, and root cause analysis.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance per BEUMER standards.
• Interface with SAC and PLC systems to monitor performance.
• Inspect system health using diagnostics and dashboards.
• Maintain logs of maintenance and spare parts usage.
• Adhere to health, safety, and quality standards including lockout/tagout.
• Communicate with Shift Supervisors and cross-functional teams.
• Support system upgrades and hardware retrofits with engineering and OEMs.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
