Job summary

BEUMER Group is hiring a Technician II to perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on the BEUMER ICS baggage handling system at Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

You will follow established procedures, troubleshoot faults, and support system reliability in a fast-paced airport setting. The role requires an associate degree or technical certification in mechatronics or related field, 2–5 years of automation experience, and eligibility for airside security clearance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in automated material handling systems, ideally airport/logistics.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain airside security clearance.
• Deep understanding of mechatronic systems: sensors, actuators, motors, controls.
• Proficiency with BEUMER SAC systems, PLC programming (Siemens preferred), fault diagnostics.
• Familiarity with Profinet, CANbus and other Fieldbus protocols.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and software docs.
• Experience using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and software interfaces.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset; focus on reliability and safety.
• Clear, professional communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safety, compliance, and quality.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a high-pressure environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced maintenance on BEUMER ICS components and interfacing equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve faults across mechanical, electrical, and control subsystems using structured troubleshooting methods.
• Respond to system interruptions caused by carrier jams, sensor faults, or control logic errors; execute resets and root cause analysis.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance aligned with BEUMER Group standards and OEM documentation on the ICS system.
• Interface with BEUMER’s High-Level Control (SAC) and PLC systems to monitor performance and execute logic-based interventions.
• Inspect system health using diagnostic tools and dashboards; recommend optimizations to improve throughput and reliability.
• Maintain logs of maintenance activities, fault trends, and spare part usage in compliance with reporting protocols.
• Adhere to all Health, Safety, and Quality Control standards, including lockout/tagout procedures and PPE requirements.
• Communicate clearly with Shift Supervisors and cross-functional teams regarding system status, escalations, and improvement opportunities.
• Support system upgrades, and updates, including hardware retrofits in collaboration with engineering and OEM representatives.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including failure mode analysis and reliability-centered maintenance reviews.
• Execute additional tasks or projects as assigned by management or supervisory staff.
