Job summary

Silver Mountain Ski Resort in Idaho is seeking a Snow Safety Technician to join the Ski Patrol. You will write a daily avalanche forecast, record weather and snow observations, and help implement mitigation strategies. You will train patrollers in companion avalanche rescue and assist with avalanche dog training exercises.

You will respond to emergencies on the mountain to protect guests and staff, and you must maintain hazard assessments and safe operating conditions in varying weather.

Qualifications

• EMT, AEMT, Paramedic and/or OEC certification required.
• CPR/AED certification required.
• Professional Level 1 Avalanche certification required.
• Must pass BATF-E background check.
• Advanced skiing ability required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Familiar with recording weather and snow observations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe ski area and mitigate hazards.
• Maintain signage, boundary markings, and hazard markings for guest navigation.
• Provide medical care to injured guests.
• Document medical care in records.
• Respond to emergencies including search and rescue and evacuations.
• Assess and mitigate avalanche hazard.
• Write a daily avalanche forecast.
• Record snow and weather data.
• Develop and implement mitigation strategies.
• Train patrollers in companion avalanche rescue.
• Work with avalanche rescue dogs.
