Job summary

Nissan Motor Corporation in Santa Clara, CA is seeking an AV Mechanical Engineering Intern for a 12-week program. You will help design, fabricate, assemble and troubleshoot mechanical and electromechanical systems for autonomous vehicle platforms, wiring harnesses, and research vehicles in a fast-paced lab setting.

As an intern, you’ll contribute from concept through assembly and testing, gaining hands-on CAD experience and exposure to safety, quality standards, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an Engineering/related degree program.
• Sophomore, Junior or Senior year at the start of the upcoming term.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
• Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools for prototyping.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and documentation.
• Strong organizational and verbal/written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design parts and support development of mechanical assemblies for AV systems.
• Assemble and test mechanical and electromechanical systems for research and development.
• Procure materials and components for prototyping and testing.
• Build and integrate wiring harnesses and supporting hardware for vehicle and lab use.
• Support prototype assembly, lab setup, and validation activities.
• Assist with engineering documentation, CAD updates, and continuous improvement.
