AV Installation Technician

The Role
You’ll be responsible for the installation, wiring, commissioning and troubleshooting of high-end residential AV, home automation, networking and security systems across luxury residential projects throughout the tri-state area.
Duties
- Installing and commissioning high-end residential audio visual and home automation systems.
- Carrying out rough-in wiring, rack fabrication and equipment installation.
- Mounting TVs, speakers, projectors, keypads, cameras and motorized shades.
- Pulling, labelling and dressing cables, including terminating and testing structured cabling.
- Installing and configuring audio, video, distributed AV/AV-over-IP, networking and Wi-Fi systems.
- Installing lighting control, motorized shades, surveillance, access control, intercom and HVAC integrations.
- Configuring and troubleshooting IP-connected devices including managed switches, VLANs, DHCP, static IPs and PoE.
- Configuring home control and automation systems during installation and commissioning.
- Building, cabling and testing equipment racks prior to deployment.
- Testing, commissioning and troubleshooting completed systems.
- Reading architectural plans, wiring diagrams, rack elevations and system schematics.
- Attending service calls and diagnosing faults on existing systems.
- Working closely with programmers, engineers, Project Managers and other trades on site.
- Maintaining accurate as-built notes, cable labelling and project documentation.
- Managing tools, vehicle stock and project materials.
Requirements
- Previous hands-on experience within residential AV, home automation or entertainment system installation, or transferable experience within electrical, low-voltage, construction, carpentry/fabrication, automotive, theatre/stage or IT hardware.
- Familiarity with systems such as Crestron, Savant, Lutron HomeWorks, Ketra, Ruckus, Netgear or SonicWall beneficial.
- Experience with AV-over-IP, motorized shades, surveillance or access control beneficial.
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals or a strong aptitude to learn.
- Strong interest in AV, integration technology and new systems.
- Programming or system configuration experience beneficial but not essential.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in clean, precise installations.
- Confident using hand and power tools and working from ladders and lifts.
- Professional and comfortable working within high-end clients' homes.
- Strong communication skills with clients, contractors, architects, designers and internal teams.
- Crestron, Lutron or Savant certifications beneficial but not essential.
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
