Vatn Systems in Bristol, RI is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Naval Architect to develop and optimize the mechanical systems of autonomous underwater vehicles. You will design components, analyze performance, and collaborate across a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced startup environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Architecture, proficiency in SolidWorks, and a track record in robotics or underwater vehicle design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Use SolidWorks to design, model, and detail mechanical components and assemblies for autonomous underwater vehicles.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to develop innovative mechanical design solutions.
• Perform stress and tolerance analysis to validate performance and durability.
• Participate in design reviews, offering insights to improve designs and manufacturing processes.
• Coordinate with manufacturing partners to ensure smooth transition from design to production.
• Support prototype assembly, testing, and troubleshooting with necessary design modifications.
• Document design changes, specifications, and technical reports for future reference.
• Stay current with advancements in mechanical design technologies and methodologies.
