Job summary

Applied Intuition, Inc. is hiring an Autonomy Test Engineer to verify autonomy software on real vessels and in simulation. You will design and execute test scenarios, analyze data, and provide precise findings to the engineering team.

Much testing occurs at sea, with a focus on performance, reliability, and safety. Responsibilities include executing on-water sorties, analyzing sensor data, and building regression tests in HITL and simulation environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 2+ years of test or systems integration engineering for complex software-intensive systems.
• Hands-on testing or validation of autonomous/robotic systems (air, ground, sea, or simulation).
• Experience analyzing test data using Python, MATLAB, or similar.
• Experience with SIL/HITL testing and simulation.
• Familiarity with Atlassian Jira for agile program management.
• Strong writing skills for test reports and after-action reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design test scenarios and test cards to exercise autonomy behaviors with clear pass/fail criteria.
• Execute on-water test events, monitor autonomy performance against expected behavior.
• Analyze logs, telemetry, and sensor data to characterize performance and root causes.
• Reproduce field anomalies in simulation and HITL environments and build regression tests.
• Document discrepancies in Jira with detail and reproducibility for engineers to act on.
• Contribute to test plans, procedures, and readiness reviews under the Test & Evaluation Director.
• Author comprehensive test reports and after-action reports.
