Job summary

Bedrock Robotics Inc. in San Francisco is seeking a V&V intern to own black-box testing of hardware actuators and help quantify the sim-to-real gap on real machines.

You will develop test plans, instrument hardware, collect clean datasets, and compare real data to simulations to drive concrete model improvements. You will also automate test execution and reporting to make these runs routine.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, master's or PhD in a relevant engineering field or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Working understanding of controls or system identification fundamentals.
• Python for analysis and automation.
• Hands-on experience with sensors, DAQ, or test benches.
• Willingness to spend real time on machines in the field, in PPE.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute black-box test plans to characterize actuator behavior.
• Instrument hardware, set up data acquisition, and collect datasets.
• Characterize latency, hysteresis, and saturation under varying conditions.
• Compare real machine data against simulation output and quantify divergences.
• Provide concrete model improvements to controls and simulation teams.
• Automate test execution and reporting so runs become routine.
