Job summary

General Motors seeks a SEAM Intern in Sunnyvale to advance sensing, estimation, and mapping for autonomous driving. You’ll work on real-world algorithms, collaborate with seasoned engineers, and contribute to the evaluation of system performance across multimodal data sources.

You will prototype software for sensor fusion, localization, and calibration while applying production-quality engineering practices, documentation, and cross-team collaboration throughout the internship period.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a Master’s degree in a technical field related to robotics or ML.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python.
• Solid foundation in linear algebra, probability, geometry, optimization, or estimation methods.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, prototype, and evaluate algorithms for sensor fusion, state estimation, localization, calibration, or mapping.
• Work with camera, lidar, radar, inertial, map, and other multimodal data.
• Implement software/tools for data processing, visualization, offline analysis, and evaluation.
• Apply software engineering best practices including code reviews and automated testing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate results clearly.
