Job summary

Shield AI seeks an experienced autonomy engineer to advance estimation and navigation for real-world, GPS-denied environments. You will develop cutting-edge estimation and navigation technology and transform advanced algorithms into high-performance C++ software powering resilient autonomy.

You will deploy production-grade C++ for embedded robotic systems, perform rigorous testing, and contribute to roadmap planning within a multidisciplinary autonomy team. Exposure to CI pipelines is expected.

Qualifications

• MS in related field; 2+ years experience if MS, or 0 years if PhD.
• Proficiency in modern C++ (C++11+) and OO design.
• Experience deploying low-latency C++ to embedded Linux.
• Experience designing state estimation algorithms (EKF/UKF/Particle filters).
• Familiarity with VIO/SLAM or multi-sensor fusion (GTSAM, Ceres, OpenVINS).
• CI pipelines and automated testing familiarity.
• Prototyping in Python or MATLAB welcomed but focus is on production C++.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop state estimation and navigation algorithms for GPS-denied environments.
• Design and deploy production-grade C++ software for embedded robotic systems.
• Build and maintain unit, integration, and system tests to ensure robustness and safety.
• Develop modeling, calibration, and simulation tools for inertial and vision-based navigation.
• Contribute to roadmap planning and agile execution with a multidisciplinary autonomy team.
• Enhance benchmarking and validation pipelines for rapid innovation.
