Job summary

Merlin Labs in Boston is seeking a seasoned Systems Engineer to own the architecture, requirements, and testing of autonomous flight control platforms. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to define autonomous behaviors and verification strategies for safety‑critical avionics on a small, agile startup team.

Qualified candidates have a BS in Electrical/Aerospace/Systems Engineering (MS preferred), 6–9 years of systems engineering experience, and hands-on Flight Controls experience

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Aerospace/Systems Engineering or related field; MS preferred.
• 6–9 years of experience in systems engineering (4–6 years with MS; 2–4 with PhD).
• Experience in Flight Controls System Development with ML or Autonomy.
• Experience in Flight Control System development.
• Ability to solve complex architectural and systems-engineering problems.
• Experience with requirements management tools and processes.
• Ability to develop system-level requirements, architecture, interfaces, and validation.

Responsibilities

• Develop system and sub-system architectures and requirements.
• Manage systems engineering tasking and cross-disciplinary alignment.
• Create descriptions of Features and Functions for Sub‑System execution.
• Develop Sub‑System Level Requirements and Test Methods.
• Define test strategies and verification approaches.
• Collaborate with safety, hardware, and software teams to capture interfaces.
