Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Autonomous Systems Software Engineer to build the brains behind next‑generation unmanned underwater vehicles and maritime autonomy systems. You’ll translate system intent into production software running on real hardware in constrained environments, owning features from design through deployment.

Core work uses modern C++ and Python on Linux, with collaboration across hardware, test, and systems teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Software Eng with extensive experience; a Master’s degree is valued.
• Secret clearance required to work on national mission systems.
• Proven modern C++ development on Linux with strong performance and memory fundamentals.
• Ability to design clean, maintainable systems and trade off under real constraints.
• Familiarity with MBSE concepts and integration of software into larger architectures.
• Experience in virtualized/containerized environments (VMware, Docker) and Agile workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, and deploy production autonomy software for underwater vehicles.
• Architect scalable autonomy frameworks with modular, high-performance code.
• Collaborate in design reviews, trade studies, and cross-disciplinary teams.
• Write unit/integration tests, diagnose failures, and maintain system integrity.
