Job summary

Cyngn Inc. is seeking an early-career Software Engineer to contribute to calibration, localization, and mapping for autonomous vehicle fleets in production settings. You will work on HD map creation, localization robustness, and cross-functional integration with vehicle infrastructure and QA teams.

Ideal candidates have robotics fundamentals, experience with C++, Python, and state estimation frameworks, and a drive to grow on real hardware at Cyngn.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in robotics, computer science, electrical engineering, or a similar technical field (MS a plus).
• Solid foundation in probability theory, linear algebra, 3D geometry, and spatial coordinate transformations.
• Familiarity with 3D lidar-based mapping and localization concepts (e.g., LOAM, GICP, FastLIO).
• Exposure to state estimation frameworks such as EKFs or nonlinear optimization libraries (GTSAM, G2O, Ceres-Solver).
• 2–4 years of experience building robotics or autonomous vehicle software.

Responsibilities

• Implement, tune, and test mapping, localization, and sensor calibration algorithms for autonomous vehicle platforms using C++ and Python.
• Contribute to tooling and metrics for performance validation and continuous testing frameworks.
• Debug and analyze algorithm performance using real-world and simulated sensor data and iterate based on vehicle testing results.
• Balance project tasks, code reviews, and learning to meet milestones in a fast-paced startup environment.
