Job summary

Shield AI in San Diego, CA, is seeking a senior engineer to bridge perception software with flight-test operations. You will deploy the Hivemind Pilot stack, calibrate sensors, and drive field tests across diverse platforms, ensuring robust autonomy capabilities from algorithm to flight-verified systems.

You will work with edge hardware, control data quality, and refine test objectives. A background in perception disciplines and hands-on testing on embedded compute is required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience deploying and testing perception or autonomy software on edge hardware.
• Strong foundation in perception disciplines: detection, tracking, SLAM, or navigation.
• Experience calibrating EO/IR and PNT sensors (COTS or military-grade).
• Experience with hardware-software integration in flight-test environments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate software and hardware integration to deploy and test autonomy stack across UAS platforms.
• Own fly-fix-fly cycle: deploy, verify, define test objectives, and analyze data.
• Lead sensor calibration and time synchronization for testing.
• Establish data quality standards and curate field-collected sensor data.
