Job summary

Field AI is building autonomous robotic systems that operate in real-world environments. As a Robot Autonomy Engineer - Software, you will oversee deployment, integration, and ongoing field performance, working with customers and internal teams to ensure operations are successful and scalable.

You will drive rapid field improvements, collaborate across software, hardware, and systems teams, and help make field deployments mission-critical from day one, in a fast-paced startup setting.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS with 2+ years in industry or applied research.
• Experience across the full software lifecycle with focus on early-stage system design.
• Robotics middleware such as ROS/ROS 2 and distributed robotics software systems.
• Embedded systems experience (C/C++ on constrained hardware).
• Ability to work across software, electronics, networking and mechanical interfaces.
• Proven track record managing complex programs in agile/hybrid environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to executives.
• Strong analytical skills with ROI analysis and KPI tracking.
• Thrives in fast-paced startup environments.

Responsibilities

• Drive integration, debugging, and rapid capability development while providing software support.
• Build robust utilities and tools for integration and automated testing of system software builds.
• Provide high-level technical insights to advance robust software architectures.
