Qualifications

  • Requires MS/PhD in Robotic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Optimization, or equivalent, or 5+ years of autonomy design experience.
  • Strong Linux and command-line proficiency.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or C++.
  • Hands-on robotics, sensor, and vehicle autopilot experience (e.g., PX4, ROS).
  • Knowledge of inter-vehicle communication protocols (DDS, ROS 2).
  • Experience integrating third-party software and APIs.
  • Familiarity with standards such as PYRAMID, FACE, ARP 4754A, DO-178C.
  • Systems architecting and requirements writing experience.
  • Field troubleshooting and deployment are required.

Responsibilities

  • Define system requirements from operational needs and concepts.
  • Define and align system architectures with open standards.
  • Design reference architectures for autonomy, mission, and weapon systems.
  • Lead development of SE models and artifacts to capture design decisions.
  • Develop, deploy, and validate software on autonomous vehicles (robotics, sensors, autopilots).
  • Perform hands-on fieldwork deploying software on vehicles in dynamic environments.
  • Collaborate with software, autonomy, perception, data science, and field teams for robust operation.
  • Address inter-vehicle data exchange for collaborative autonomy.
  • Use simulations to test vehicle systems before deployment.
  • Document processes and provide status updates on improvements.
