Parallel Systems is seeking Software Engineering Interns to help build the software that runs our vehicles and the platform behind our fleet. This hands-on role ships real work and runs on prototype hardware or test benches.

Interns are assigned to vehicle software or backend/full-stack projects, owning a scoped task from requirements to delivery while collaborating with a mentor and testing the results on real hardware or with real users.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Hands-on software experience through internships, student projects or personal projects.
• Strong programming skills in at least one language such as Rust, C, C++, Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Track record of building software that works outside of classroom or simulation.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging across system boundaries.
• Clear communication and proactive progress updates.
• Excitement about hands-on, hard-tech environments where software meets physical vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a specific project aligned with team priorities.
• Work on vehicle control software for braking, drivetrain, actuators, and power systems on microcontrollers or embedded Linux.
• Develop and validate interfaces across CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, or UART, including bench debugging.
• Bring up onboard sensors and devices for telemetry, health monitoring, and operation.
• Build fleet telemetry services and data pipelines ingesting data from vehicles in the field.
• Develop APIs and web apps used to monitor, dispatch, and manage vehicles.
• Improve CI/CD, simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, deployment and observability.
